The Town

Subotica, a town in the heart of the Pannonia Vale, is found on the far north of the Republic of Serbia. Located only a couple of dozen kilometers from the border of Hungary it is, by all means, one of Serbia’s key connections with the European Union.

Municipal region of Subotica is made up of the town itself, with a population of over 100.000, and 18 suburban regions around the town with a population of 60.000. During its six-century history Subotica was the administrative, trade and cultural centre of the northern part of Vojvodina.
The most important tourist center in the region, Lake Palić, is found only seven kilometers east of the town.

For centuries, people of many different nationalities, the majority of which are Hungarians, Serbs, Croats and others, have lived in peace in Subotica.
The most important mid-European cultural heritage of this town is its buildings. The architectural marvel of Subotica and a memorial to its building construction is the Town Hall, built in secession style from 1908 to 1910.

Municipal region of Subotica, according to the last register, has a population of 148.401 people. Out of that, adults make up 125.519, children under seven years of age 9912, children from 7 to 14 years of age 12.970 and young people from 15 to 27 years of age 26.767.
97.370 members of the population are employed.
